Legor accesses the POR-FESR VENETO 2014-2020 funding

Legor had access to the POR funding – Objective “Increase of business innovation activities” ERDF part European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020.

Axis “Research, technological development and innovation”.

Action 1.1.1 “Support for research projects to companies that include the use of researchers (PhDs and Master’s degree graduates with technical-scientific profiles) at the companies themselves”.

Financial Support: eligible expenditure € 167,184.00 – contribution granted € 58,514.40.

This funding allowed Legor to undertake the project “Process development for the production of copper alloys in the form of powders for additive printing applications” with the collaboration of INFN (National Institute of Nuclear Physics), as part of the international research project ITER, which aims to the study and construction of nuclear fusion reactors.

Within this context, the project followed by Legor had the objective of improving the practical results of 3D printing, on pure copper and its low-alloyed alloys, finding an optimal balance between the printing characteristics of the powder and the technological properties of the printed object.
Two types of solutions have been identified from the alloy formulation point of view: the first one, based on pure copper with a controlled content of metallic and non-metallic impurities; the second one, a copper-based low-alloyed alloy with chromium and zirconium. Both solutions have proven to be valid and technologically applicable, though with specific particularities in use.

The research paper describing the project will be presented by INFN on the occasion of the 3D PRINTING FORUM 2022, which will be held on November 14-16 in Valencia.
