The Metallic Accessory Supply Chain: a workshop on the sustainable revolution in the fashion industry

The fashion industry landscape is constantly evolving, driven by increasing environmental and social awareness. In this rapidly changing context, it is crucial for all stakeholders involved in the fashion and accessories supply chain to stay updated, understand the challenges, innovations, and opportunities, and most importantly, to learn how to apply the new paradigms of sustainability and circular economy in the production process, to meet the need to reduce impacts and, consequently, satisfy industry trends.

With the goal of creating knowledge and awareness within the entire fashion sector, Polimoda Professional Training – a division of Polimoda dedicated to training exclusively for professionals and companies in the industry – has organized a workshop on Thursday, May 23, 2024, focused on the critical analysis of the metallic accessory production chain in fashion, with a special emphasis on emerging technologies in a sustainability key.

The event, organized in collaboration with Made for Change – a Benefit Company, set in Villa Favard in Florence, promises to provide an opportunity for sharing tools, experiences, and best practices to guide the fashion industry toward a more sustainable and responsible future.

The starting point will be an analysis of the critical issues of the main production processes currently used, from raw material sourcing to processing, with the aim to reflect on the environmental and social impacts of each phase. Industry experts will share their experiences and insights, opening up to existing technological innovations that allow reducing the impact of metallic accessory production through the adoption of more efficient production processes and the introduction of innovative and recyclable materials. Among various interventions, for example, there will be room to explore the productive potential of additive manufacturing, through the story of Legor’s experience with the 3D Metal Hub, the innovative center dedicated to the experimentation and production of jewelry, fashion accessories, and industrial components starting from precious metal powders, and others, using the revolutionary 3D Metal Jet Printing technology.

The workshop is part of the activities of Polimoda Professional Training aimed at bringing together the various protagonists already operating within the supply chain, with the goal of reflecting on the current landscape and stimulating change through the adoption of new paradigms in production processes and openness to new promising technological possibilities.

For us at Legor, the fashion sector represents an important part of our business, just as our commitment to sustainability and the drive for innovation play a pivotal role in defining the strategies that guide us within it. As key players in the fashion accessory supply chain, we are pleased to offer our experience for a sustainable and responsible evolution of the reference market, which will be possible thanks to spaces for dialogue and sharing created by Polimoda and the adherence of more and more realities at the forefront of the sector.
